Jyväskylä, Finland, WMA Indoor Champs April 3-8, 2012

Unread postby master » Fri Aug 19, 2011 1:06 am

No time like the present to start a place to share info about WMA Indoor Champs in Jyväskylä, Finland. They are scheduled for April 3 thru 8, 2012.

Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/wma2012
Meet webpage: http://wma2012.jyvaskyla.fi/
Video about transportation after landing in Helsinki: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjouU4uv ... e=youtu.be
Directions for athletes who arrive by plane: http://www.facebook.com/notes/wma-2012- ... 8490855600

Of course the big question is, can you borrow or rent poles there! Flying to Helsinki and then bus and then train does not sound like a trip to make with a 40 pound pole tube. If anyone knows or learns about pole availability (or not) at the meet, please post it here.

I talked to Bill Murray in Spokane before Lahti and told me he had no problem arranging all of those coordinates to take his on the plane/train. Bubba

Interesting. Thanks Bubba. I guess I'm most likely to hear about the problems with poles transport and not about the times it went smoothly. I have heard a few horror stories. :crying:

After many attempts to obtain information about borrowing poles, it has been posted in the December newsletter of these championships. Be sure to scroll down to see the full list.

Code: Select all

Equipments
Vaulting poles
List of vaulting poles that can be borrowed during the competition:
Length Weight Flex Brand
310    70          Pacer
~330   60          Pacer
335    100         Pacer
~340               Pacer
~355   110         Pacer
370    140         Spirit
370    150         Spirit
400    110         Pacer
400
415    145         Spirit
415    150    23,8 Spirit
415    150    23,0 Spirit
460    185
460    180

I'm not sure what to make of the poles with only the length provided.
It appears the length is listed in centimeters and the weight in pounds.
Amazingly, there are a couple poles that could probably work for me. :) Now if I could just get plane fare at a reasonable price. :(
