Vaulter filched step marker, high jumper says

Unread postby TrackCEO » Sun Jun 07, 2009 4:15 am

Charlie Rader, a former M45 world record holder in the high jump, has lost his cherished step marker.

Someone told Charlie that a pole vaulter at the June 6 Pasadena Senior Games at Caltech walked off with the marker -- a varnished wooden ball atop a steel spike that Charlie uses to mark the start of his approach run (when he starts on grass).

Visible on the ball is his name: RADER.

Charlie, now in his 60s, got this marker at a World Masters Games, and is upset at its loss.

Please contact me at TrackCEO (at) aol.com if you have any leads on who might have Charlie's step marker, or if you have a way of securing it.

Charlie just wants the step marker back. No questions asked.

I hope he gets it back and my bet is that he will. We vaulters are always forgetting our markers and picking up those of our friends who also forget them. Hopefully that's the case. I left my favorite one at Drake and one of the guys emailed me that he had it for me. All the best. Bubba
