i know you have to finish in the top 8 at regionals to be considered for at large bids... that's the only thing i can think of...

i read something on trackshark that mentions the new rules, sounds like its the same as last year..

top 5 are automatic in each region

6,7, 8 place are thrown into a pool.

out of the 6-8 place in each region ( 4 regions x 3 people= 12)

out of those 12, the top 8 go on based on their overall season best marks.....

tsk tsk. nobody reads the rules

After the automatic qualifiers (top five declared athletes in individual events, top three declared relays based upon regional performance) have been identified, the committee will place the next seven declared athletes/relay teams (plus ties based on place) in each event based upon regional performance into the national at-large pool. Previously, only the next three declared athletes/relay teams in each regional event advanced to the at-large pool.

now there are 28 people in the at large pool...

well professor Brian has made it pretty clear now, so does this mean more people will be heading to regionals on a whole scale this year?

In slightly simpler terms, top 5 are in like always, next 7 (so to 12th place) are now considered for the at-large pool.

Better than last year, but you're still screwed if you NH at Regionals.

yeah, no heighting is still the ultimate fear. :o

but i think this idea helps slightly stronger regions have more people at nationals, therefore the competition will be better

Hey if you no height at trials you don't go to the show either...i think its a great rule. You have to be able to jump when it counts and if you can't make it happen you don't deserve to be at nationals. Good luck everyone at regionals!

Off the topic - sort of
