Montana State's Ellie Rudy is making history, week by week
As Montana State's Ellie Rudy sails over higher pole vault bars eac week, she continues to secure one of the most dominant track and fiel seasons in Big Sky history.
Rudy, the sophomore from Woodland Park, Colo., earned her fourth Big Sky Women's Field Events Athlete of the Week award this week. That ties her with four former Big Sky athletes, including two Bobcats, for the most in a single season in Big Sky history.
"That's a pretty big deal," long-time MSU coach Dale Kennedy said of Rudy's fourth athlete-of-the-week award. "Every week she just one-ups it. She gets a little better and clears the next bar every week. She's having a pretty amazing season."
Rudy won the pole vault in the Cat-Griz Dual last week with a jump of 13-6.25. That mark was the best in MSU and Big Sky Conference history, and is second-best in the NCAA Midwest Region and 10th-best in the NCAA this year. Rudy qualifies for the regional championship, May 26-27 in Austin, Texas.
