They usually take top 16. Last year it took 5.35 to get in. I am predicting this year it will be 5.35 again, but we'll see!

The geniuses from the NCAA agreed that Reno marks would count only if 5.36 was going to be the cutoff...
HA! Take that!

4.10 or 4.11? That centimeter may be the difference maker. We will be shooting for 4.11 this weekend.

Since the cutoff is usually an odd number like 5.36 or 4.11, why don't more meets run an odd number progression? I would definitely do this at my home meets if I had vaulters that could possibly be on the bubble.

5.36 for the men will get you there I would bet. I think it has been almost 7-8 years since it has taken higher to make it to NCAA DI. THe typical number of vaulters 16. The NCAA takes a set number of athletes but in some cases one person will be in multiple events so they still only count as one entry of the 300-400 or however many allowed athletes. So once the deadline passes they count all the auto's and then divy up the rest of the fields to meet the total number of allowed athletes. Which almost always come out to 16-17 per field event.
