DIII Gals Predicitions

Unread postby VaultnGus » Mon Mar 10, 2003 8:28 pm

This is gonnq be a wild one. Last year's indoor and outdoor champ, Kelly Bowen of Nebraska Wesleyan transfered to the University of Nebraska (DI) . 4 time champ Laura Rosenberger from Eastern Mennonite doesn't seem to have found her form this year after a disappointing 2nd indoors and an uncharacteristic NH outdoors in '02. At this moment there are 2 gals that seem to be head and shoulders above the rest - Kim Marino of Richard Stockton and Angela Hilgers of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Marino has the higher height but Hilgers has the more impressive season (4 marks over 12'04" as compared to only 1 for Kim). My guess is Angela over Kim for first. After that it's anybody's guess. Hopefully Laura Rosenberger can regain her form. She hasn't vaulted in over a month and her marks before that were not up to her stnadards. I'd also like to see the New England crew do some damage - Meredith Jones (Williams), Elizabeth Frederick (Colby) and Cat Tweedie (MIT) are all excellent jumpers and have awesome coaches. If Kerry Teamey (Wheaton, MA) makes the field (right now she is #15 on the list) she could be dangerous too - she has a PR of 12'02" from a few years back and she is just starting to get back in the swing of things. Whatever happens it's gonna be a heck of a competition. Wish I could be there :)

Hilgers does not suprise me - went to U of I out of HS from Wisc - trans back to home state - LaCrosse has a great vault tradition - just look at the mens side - seems they always have a guy around 17'
Plant like crap sometimes ok most times
