Time Off in between seasons?
Im just wondering if any of you take any time off in between seasons. After competing in the long indoor season i just took a week off to let my body recover from the aches and pains it goes through. Do any of you guys take any time off ro do you go str8 thru, our schedule this year allows two weeks off of competing unlike last year when we only got a weekend off. Do you guys prefer taking any time off or just go str8 thru indoor right into outdoor

I personally dont take a WHOLE week off, but its a week of light training and lifting, depending on my health. If 100 % ( which is very unlikely) i will just vault more and relax on the heavy running and lifting. Have a " fun " week, get more mentally prepared for the outdoor season and try to push off any bad vibes from the indoor season.

My son trains year round (actual indoor vaulting in an unheated barn) 3 to 4 nights a week. He does this all thru football, basketball and track season. This gets kind of tight during the height of b-ball season but he enjoys the vault so much. We work around his schedule. If the mood is to not vault it only hits him probably 1 to 2 nights a month.

My coach trains up straight through both seasons. We have about 2 weeks of a break of seasons... and my coach uses those 2 weeks to heavily train and condition. Although it is hard to find the motivation to continue the hard training, it usally lets all us athletes peak at the right time.
