Being there I would like to say that Jordan"s run was the difference in his vaulting. It was really powerfull for a college vaulter. One of the best I have seen in a while. He was really good on Saturday. He was over 19.04, and would have made 19.01 if he had not passed for the win. Keep up what you are doing it worked. Also Jason was real close at 19.01. Should have made it. Maybe with Jordan, Jason, and Scott we will have more 19 footers in the US in the future. Con grats to Jason three Relays wins in a row. That is a tough meet to win.

There was no attempt at 5.91.

Scott was up first at 5.81 but he had just cleared 5.71 so he scratched his first attempt to catch a breather and thus only had 2 attempts at it. Only Colwick's 1st could've been a make. Long pegs and/or no wind and it would've stayed. He had the height on both his other attempts but fell on the bar. Scott may have had the height on his 2nd (last) but it was way in front of the bar.

I wouldn't be surprised if either jumped it this season but then again tons of guys have looked great at 5.70 and never jumped 5.80.

It's no coincidence that the two guys with a superior approach were the two left jumping at 19'.

Actually, Scott's last attempt was at 5.91. He passed his first attempt at 5.81, missed twice at that and the bar was raised by progession to the next height of 91. No doubt both vaulters will be clearing that this year. The best competition in the men's vault in the nearly 20 years I have gotten to work it. Besides their great efforts, the rest of that field was outstanding, made for a great saturday afternoon. That BYU vaulter Little, is one tough little competitor, enjoyed both his efforts in the b and a group.

Also wanted to comment on the toughness of Air Force cadet Nick Frawley, Nick warmed up to compete after suffering a horrible(but funny, now that he is ok) accident last week. I can't describe it well, so check it out on youtube, search for nick frawley and it comes up pretty quick. My hat's off to that young man.

I did not think I was seeing things. I did see the board at 19.04 actually have on video. And Jordan confirmed it also by e-mail.
