I've got a lot of respect for a guy who's willing to say..."Oops". I agree, Tommy's vaulting is looking great.

Also Sean "NeoVault" Brown, keep up the great work! We appreciate what you do and can't wait for the next DVD.

Man excellent run and gets over takeoff well, I would question his drive phase to rockback but the rest is pretty damn good especially his run. Hes definately got room to get up to 6m in the future pretty soon.

The thing I really like about Skipper is that I don't see him setting himself of with that mental barrier of 19-feet that virtually every other american has done. He couldn't care less about 19', it's just another bar on the way to better things.

I agree. To many vaulters freeze up or try to change things when the bar goes to PR heights, and especially at the next foot barrier. Tommy seems to be one of those rare but very talented vaulters that knows he can clear the next bar, and wants the runway when the bar goes up. He doesn't seem to be intimidated by it.

It seems that he doesn't over think, he just goes. Job done.

Skipper year 7

Unread postby baggettpv » Tue Feb 17, 2004 2:18 am

Tommy's development plan.

The goals for the 7th year is:
To be able to raise the grip to 16' 6"+.
Better takeoff- head up, jump thru both arms and long jump 25' (this is the big one).

And to jump 42"+ over grip- head in a neutral position, rotate more around the pole during the swing before initiating the pulling action of the body. Better Freehip handstand on the high bar (check the appropriate level for men, level 7 for women).

So far he hasn't missed a goal yet.
