In WA, SPU and Western are both good DII vault schools. Jack and Dick are great coaches and super nice.

I love to study DI vaulting programs cause I go to a DI school. I dont really follow DII or DIII that much. Thats why my list is only DI schools. Although I know for sure that there are some great DII schools out there that can totally compete with the DI schools!

Pole vault Colleges

Unread postby keulpv » Thu Sep 12, 2002 8:06 pm

I can tell you about pole vault colleges because I just finished my eligibility in college and was competitive at the top of the NCAA's
First of all, you cant assume that a college is a good pole vault school just because it has good vaulters. Some athletes are good enough that they dont really need a good program/coach. Anyway here are some additions and subtractions from you list above.

Stephen F. Austin (this is where I just graduated from)
not to take anything away from it, but it is NOT a polevault school. We had a great thing going for a couple years there, but now all of the athletes and coaches are gone so go there to throw or run distance-not PV

Texas Tech- This is your replacement for Southwest Texas. Coach Hood left SWT this year and went to Tech and took all the vaulters except my buddy Fairbanks with him.

The best Schools for vault now (in my Opinion) are Oklahoma and Arizona. I would also suggest New Mexico because the coach there is good and setting up a great program. <AK>

0n a side note, new mexico just recruited a 17 foot vaulter out of paradise valley community college. Actually, Adam you were there when this guy went 17 at corona del sol in arizona. I think he only has two years of eligibility left but 17 feet is 17 feet! His name is brandon somthing.

Kansas has 1 guy over 18 and 1 guy over 17'6". This coach replaced Attig and is doing one hell of a job.

Arkansas state has the best pole vault programs because we all train at bell athletics, and there is such a great atmosphere here..........
........just off hand, i can think of 22 local vaulters who live here in jonesboro just for one reason......CAUSE IT IS THE POLE VAULT CAPITAL OF THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

p.s. i think number two should be Nebraska, cause Attig is a great coach

Hehe the Jonesboro folks are taking over! I just talked to Kellie today, she is out here in Athens. She was also telling me how cool Earl's is, and how I need to come visit and go to camp :)

Hey, I came all the way from Brazil to Jonesboro, and I can say that I wouldn't have gone anywhere else in the world. ASU is a small school, but you can get a great education if you want to.
