The clearinghouse has a 2.000 gpa and a 1010 as the bare minimum, is it possible to still qualify if you have a high SAT score and just below a 2.000? I still have another year of HS though so nothing is final.

Not and be eligible as a freshman or recieve aid.

i think that SAT score is pretty high, last i heard the minimum SAT score was 820-850 ish... because 1010 is pretty high... but i also did that whole thing two years ago..

Sliding scale. 1010 and a 2.00 or 820 and a 2.50. Various combinations inbetween.

Yeah, but on that scale 2.00 is the lowest...does that mean if you have a 1.90 gpa and a 1100 SAT you wouldnt qualify?

I dunno what the academics are like at Klein Oak but sub-2.00 in most of the world is failing so I doubt you'd have to worry too much about college...I'd be more concerned with all the potential grease welts you may get from putting the McFries in the fryer.

Yeah I always thought that a sub 2.0 was failing also, but it turns out that a D is worth 1 point, and not 2. I haven't failed a single class for credit all through high school so far, but I have failed a marking period before.

Be forwarned........there is NO such thing as a partial qualifier anymore (can practice w/the team but not compete). You either qual or you dont.

Duckworth, I'm one of your biggest fans, I don't want you to think I'm getting on your tail, but if you will put the same determination on your school work that improved your vault by about 4 feet in just a few seasons, your gpa will be 5.0. Take care of your grades first, your jumping 2nd, with what you have going with your jumping you'll have a school to jump at. I'm rooting for you Scott, get your grades.

If you can't make the grades in high school, you aren't likely to make it through college. Getting past Clearinghouse is only the first step. You have to pass a certain number of classes each term to stay eligible in college. And you have to make progress toward your major, so at some point you have to take some real classes mixed in with the BS.

Bottom line, it doesn't matter how high you jump in high school if you don't have the academics to back it up.

Also look at the core course requirement - you can not take basketweaving to bump up your average - the 2.0 must include a min. of certain core courses - D's in the core area will hurt you -

Thats right! Thats what nipped me in the butt. Make sure if you do plan on vaulting in college, better yet any sports, make sure you take all the required classes, unless you don't mind red shirting your first year.
