Can anyone give me any info on the facility for Jr Natls? Mondo or nortmal rubber runway? How are the typical winds? I saw the seating chart on usatf.com and it doesnt look like there's going to be good viewing/seating across from the takeoff/runway. How hard is it to get to the top of the turn to watch from the side?

Any other comments about the facilities or weather or pits or whatever?

jumped at a meet there earlier this year...

red mondo--2 runways perpendicular to the track, runways run north-south. the mondo is old, you know, the kind with the little seam down the middle from wear from a lot of use. it is quite fast though. nice facility. i guess gill is the supplier for this meet so it will be nice new equipment.

Skyin' Brian, My son, Brian, was telling me that you may have moved to the St Louis area ??? If this is true are you going to be at the Polevault explosion in St. Charles this year - Might consider the "Show me State games" for another place to vault also.

Yeah the pits will be new Gill pits, not the UCS pits they normally have there.

I don't remember wind being an issue when I was up there (though I was coaching, not competing, so I wasn't really paying attention), but the runways are perpendicular to the straightaway, which often means crosswinds.

Gill is sponsoring the whole meet, and providing all landing systems and hurdles and what not. I just saw yesterday that they have totally brand new mats still in the plastic. They also have brand new standards. They had a ucs mat with futura standards but they got damaged real bad in a storm a couple months ago. The track itself was at one time said to be the fastest track in the world. As you know the USATF headquarters is in Indianapolis, so they really put together an amazing facility, and they really take care of it. It may be old, but it still looks and feels brand new. The mondo has not aged a bit. As far as winds go they typically blow toward the main grandstands, which usually is a tail wind, but this summer it has been a little different down there for some reason. I'm sure they will set them up accordingly. They have two directions they can set it up. Viewing is not a problem. The pictures of the seating looks bad but there are tons of great seats on that end. You can also stand up on a hill that overlooks the first turn and the vault runway. It is going to be a great meet for sure.

You will be impressed with the facility I promise.

it is something that my wife and i are seriously considering, she got accepted into a nursing program at SIUE, so we will likely be moving to somewhere in the metro east within a few months

Just saw today that they put down brand new mondo on the pole vault runways. They put about 15 feet or so from the box.

Excuse me for being stupid, but are we talking about the NC A&T facility in Greensboro, NC? or someplace else?

So does anybody have antything that you can share about the facility at NC A&T in Greensboro (where the Nike Meet was last weekend...Junior Nationals next week/weekend)? We are coming down from CT, I'd appreciate knowing anything that you forlks can share about the runway (i.e., are distances already marked/painted...30',40',50', etc.??) orientation (i.e., sun, wind, etc.), or anything else.
