hey, i am going to an invitational tomorrow that i am
pretty pumped up about. i have today (friday) off from
school and track to rest but the meet tomorrow supposedly
had the '6 jump rule' in effect..where after your 6th vault
you are done, regardles. i am an 11' but real close to 11'6''
and i'm consistant. the weather is calling for possible rain...
and i was thinking of coming in at 10'6'' because i plan on
clearing 11'6'' and i would like at least 1 or 2 attempts at 12'
i'm not so sure though if it's raining...does anyone have any
opinion on this? it would help. thanks

What competition rules are you jumping under? NF, USATF, NCAA?
I ask because this "fixed number of attempts" format as it was once known, is not in any of these rules.
It used to be a USATF experimental rule through the 2004 rule year, but it has since been removed for 2005. Not an NCAA rule either. I don't know why a games committee can consider this format especially since it never was in any NF rule book.

that's a ridiculous rule!! I would complain!

But, if that's the case, I would definitely come in at 10'6 regaurdless- Especially if it's gross weather. If you're clean on misses, you'll be good to go! You could realistically 1st attempt 10'6, 11' and 11'6 and then still have 3 at 12'. Good luck!
