I know that everyone has talked about getting scholorships and stuff like that. But i was wondering if some colleges will help you get into the school insted of give you money.

I know ivy league doesn't give scholarships. If they want you, they'll get you accepted.

Yea, if you're recruitable, which depends on the school, division, conference, etc., then a school can definately get you in even if you're not on scholarship. They get a certain amount of "tagged" applications which will pass through admissions with relative ease. Usually a school likes you to orally commit before they give you one of these. But its definately a very easy way to get into that school you never studied enough to get into.

yeah, boner, you need to:

1)stop worrying about college so much

2) take all the studying time you are doing right now and switch that to vault time.

3) not get shown up by a girl (me) at polevault OR strength training

4) jump 14 this year

5) jump idk like 15 or 16 next year

6) then colleges will want u

yes yes. great advice. School is just that thing of to the side of where you vault. Thats it.

i was surprised at how important grades were to the recruiting process. the seniors from my track team have been recruited every year by various institutions, and you would always hear of these great athletes getting into GOOD schools. what you didn't hear was that even though they trained ALL the time, they also had at least a 3.5. Basically if you want to be irresistable to colleges:
get good grades- don't see vaulting as an excuse to have anything less

present the best package you can, excluding vaulting- clubs, character, leadership, etc. if you can present a resumé that would be competitive enough in regular admissions, a coach will be MUCH more likely to vouch for you.

do the best you can with pv- you'll have someone on the inside pulling to get you in especially if you can contribute to their team.

i can't speak personally to the success of these things, but from the advice that i've been given that's what has worked in the past. good luck with everything!

Great advise. How many coleges want to invest time and money into someone who may not be able to have the grades to stay eligable?
