So what is a generally good height for girls who want to vault in college to get? Is there a certain height that can secure a spot for ya on a GOOD college track and field team ( assuming that your grades are pretty good) ? and what do you think is a good height for a first time (female) vaulter to get after about 8 months? j/w here. :)

that's a good question. so what IS the average height needed for female vaulters to be able to vault on a college track team? and in answer to that other question, i personally think that 8'0 or maybe 7'6 is a pretty good start but i'm not sure what the average height is (just a guess).

It depends a lot on the college. There are plenty of smaller schools that would be happy to take any girl who wanted to pole vault. But at a competitive Division I school you could easily need to jump 11'0 out of high school to even walk on. It just depends a lot on what vaulters they have, and what they are looking for. If you are fast and strong that helps because they will see you as having more potential.

As for a good height to get after 8 months... it just depends a lot on you. I only jumped 7'6" after my first 8 months vaulting :P But I also know a girl who jumped 12'2" in her first meet after only a month or two of vaulting (she is a college gymnast). As long as you are improving and having fun, don't worry as much about the height, that will take care of itself :)

Right now...

Right now I would suggest working on every last detail of your form because height is nothing with out form. That was my problem when I first started to vault in college. I was all worried about how I look compared to everyone else there. Then I realized that was my error. So get better form and don't worry about how high you vault just take it meet at a time. :)
