Just curious about the change of sponsors. Does anyone know if Nike's contract was just up or if they changed the sponsor for another reason?

I've been told that Nike would only stay on as the sponsor if the meet was moved to Hayward Field in Oregon but the NSSF believed that the move would make travel too expensive and that the attendance would go down.
New Balance picked up the sponsorship of the same exact meet that occurred in past years.
Nike formed their own team National Championships in Oregon that is similar to the format of NTN from Cross Country that is on a different weekend than the New Balance meet to avoid conflicts

That makes sense. Thanks for the info. A trip to Hayward field would be fun, but expensive.

The Nike Team meet mentioned above is only open to complete HS teams that are selected, but there is a youth track meet at Hayward Field later in the summer:

I did a fund raiser at my middle school where I let the kids sign my head with sharpee pens to help pay for NIN. I don't think I have enough space on the dome to afford a trip to Oregon.

Haha no, that wasn't directed at you, I was just throwing that out there for anyone else reading this who might be interested in a summer meet at Hayward Field.
Good fundraiser though

For the New Balance outdoor nationals there is a qualifying standard for emerging elite vaulters of 14' 5.25'' i was wondering if anybody new if that was only for underclass men or if a senior in high school would be able to meet that standard and jump in the meet.
Any help is appreciated Thanks!

I think that's designed to allow more kids to compete. Your placement in a division will be determined by the height you enter. It doesn't matter about your age as long as you were in 9th-12th grade this school year.
