Shade is going to jump really high in her career. She did not even get back all the way on that jump and she jumped 13'6". I think she is the best high school female in a while. She has good speed, height, build, and wants to do better.
Shade- keep up the good work and you will achieve your goals. I think you will jump 14' 3" this year!!!!

does anyone know what pole/grip height she is on
not to be rude, but there is a lot missing from that jump. If she learns how to do a few things, she will jump very VERY high.
things i see.
taking off under
not swinging trail leg long enough
good arm drag, but not pressuring up and jumping off the ground resulting a low bend
never lays shoulders back
late turn
that being said. she can def. jump extremely high in the future. an absolute TON of talent there. and shes only a sophmore. def keep an eye out for this one in the future (and now actually)

I think she is on a 13-9 170 Altius. The things you list that are wrong with her jump, are not always wrong. I hve seen many of her jumps where all the elements you listed were correct. I also know she will take up any pole you put in her hands without hesitation. Paul has done a great job and he knows his work is not finished.

well thats good. and like i said i was not trying to be derogatory at all. she is clearly destined for big things. i just like to point things out so that others who may watch the video can learn both good and bad from it

I think thats the reason that any struggling vaulter should first and foremost talk to a knowledgable coach to get better. second, if they are going to follow a model make it one of Bubkas or Isinbajevas. But even then, the model they are showing may not be exactly what a progressing vaulter needs to be doing for the time being.
anyway, i would just say we can agree that anyone trying to figure out what to do as a progressing jumper shouldnt take points from any videos of jumpers other than a few elites, without the guidance and commentary of a good coach.
