Re: Penetration!!! no jump!
Two things I see right off the top. First, he is a full shoe under at the plant. He need to spend time off the runway fixing his run, plant, and takeoff until he can consistently takeoff with his right foot toe under his hand not his heel. Second, he is pulling with his top arm at takeoff. He cannot...

Re: freshman boy 13'
Top arm is pulling and I suspect that he is under on his take off foot. Try to film from the side of the runway at a ninety degree angle at the pit. Also, film the entire run. It will help us to see if he has a run/plant problem.

Re: Should I Move Up a Pole?
First, how much do you weight? As a general rule of thumb, for every six inches you move down from the label on pole, you add ten pound to the weight. So, the next pole you need is a 12' 145 or 150 to be close to the pole you are now. I would see if a school nearby can lend you a pole. As for the mo...

Re: What are you doing to start your outdoor season.
Had all up one meet cancelled this week with snow on Friday. Sadly, the one meet my boys went to, didn't have the vault so they were not able to at least practice. On a side note, it was a good thing for me that Friday's meet were cancelled. I was walking out the door to take my daughter to college ...

Re: What are you doing to start your outdoor season.
Was up in northern Wisconsin last weekend. Six inches of snow and it snowed all day on Saturday into Sunday. Talked to my friend who works at the high school and they have not contested a single sport so far this spring. They are talking about eliminating regional and sectional tourneys to qualify f...

Re: Chicago area summer camps and clinics
I have two sessions at Carmel Catholic High school in Mundelein. Go to http://www.carmelhs.org/experience/sports/ and click on the summer camp link. All the registration is done online. I have had multiple athletes going to the State meet here and in California. And, one of my former vaulters compet...

Re: Help getting my hips up and get fully inverted
You are blocking with your bottom arm. By fully extending your bottom arm off of the ground, you can't swing to inversion. The bottom arm should act like a shock absorber and then extend above your head like hanging on a high bar.

Re: NFHS Standards Minimum Setting Changed for 2013 to 18"
I think I would have preferred 20 inches. At our girls sectional meet, we had 27 vaulters and all but 4 have their standards further back than 18 with the vast majority of them at 15.5. My girls were at 24 and 28 running from 5 lefts. Many of the other girls were running from 6 or more lefts. I don'...

Re: What are you doing to start your outdoor season.
I feel your pain, brother. Looks like we will dodge to today's rain because it's headed towards you. Same problems here in the Land of Lincoln. Could be worse, I have a house up in Door County, Wisconsin were I grew up and as of a week ago they had a foot of snow on the ground. Midwest vaulters have...

Re: New rules change for the box collar
Rainbowgirl28, you know it's only a matter of time before the high school will be required to buy this collar. I'm putting in a request for it next week for next year. This will when require kill a few high school programs because of the price. I'm for safety but at what cost?
