Re: Can I get in to College?
Something for you to consider. You can walk on (or get the chance to) a D1 school and work with the track team and the vaulters and never see the track or a locker for 4 years. On the other hand if you did jump 13 or 14 feet this year you could go to a DII or DIII school and jump next year. What wou...

Re: Criteria for pole vaulting
Should do fine. It's definitely a sprint not a marathon. Key thing is, pay attention, have fun and figure if something looks like it could hurt you (gripping too high, fooling around, letting go of the pole on an aborted jump) it will. This is a great event but make sure you are prepared to be patie...

Re: Looking for beginning Jr. High poles
OK, I have a question or two, is he jumping in a school (high school rules) setting or a club setting? If he is just beginning and is in a club setting, or in your back yard, you should be able to go to your high school and walk up to the track coach and say "show me all of you broken or damage...

Re: First Year Coaching Blog
I'm pretty sure you have BTB and those first couple of chapters are very good for the newbees. The problem you will find is the clock is really ticking right now. Vaultmd is correct about not rushing but you also have to keep in mind that you have to have kids ready and performing in a very short ti...

Re: pv training
Barefoot, But I'm going to restate something... Running improperly with the pole will create bad habits. Doing bad pole drops will hinder your progress. Practicing bad plants and bad vault mechanics is practicing to hold yourself back. GET SOME GOOD HELP with your carry, drop, plant, etc. Bubba has ...

Re: pv training
I was considering doing p90x and combined with some cardio runs for track conditioning, should i take like a 2 week break in between seasons? or just continue training at low intensity? Nope! Trust me. If you do what is listed on Bubba's training pages you will be jump ready and frankly you will no...

Re: Running Through Vaults
There was a thread that dealt quite well with this subject and the troubles you are having. The thread was called "Failure to Launch" http://www.polevaultpower.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=19187&hilit=Failure+to+launch#p137539 . I'm guessing that many of the problems you are havi...
