Re: 2012 NFHS Survey
Last season I contacted my state's association (MIAA, Mass) about standard placement... All too often I see many many vaulters in my area who jump with their standards at the minimum 15.5". When they come up short, they land in the box. I think 18" is very reasonable. That extra 2.5" ...

Re: Tommy Skipper is making a comeback!
This is awesome! Best of luck to him in his comeback. It certainly wouldn't surprise me if he put up a good bar or even hit the Trials B standard right away.

Re: New rules for Illinois pv
I'm in Massachusetts and when bringing up the "hard and unyielding surfaces" to meet officials, always in the case of exposed concrete between the takeoff area of the runway and the plant box, they always brush it off. The rule refers to these surfaces being "around the landing system...

Re: holding the swing/waiting
There is no waiting or delaying. No passive phases in the vault.
What you see is the vaulter extending their body once they jump and finishing their takeoff. As the takeoff finishes, the swing begins.

Re: energy drinks?
I've personally never been a fan of the carbonated energy drinks. I'm big on the Rockstar Recovery and Monster Rehab... they give me an adequate amount of energy and don't fill up my stomach like the carbonated drinks.

Re: Poles for Sale in Florida
Do you have an updated list of what's currently available? I'm looking to fill some gaps with some 10-11' poles between 90 and 120 and 12'-13' in the 150-160 range. Thanks!

Re: I need some input
Your run needs a lot of work. Most important step of your approach is the first step. You need to step back with your right and push off hard... keeping your chest and hips up during the run. You put yourself in a very awkward position with your first step. Look up some of Bubka's or Isibayeva's jum...

Pacer Mystic Carbon Flexes
Just curious if anyone would know... would a 14' 155 Mystic Carbon 20.4 be on the softer end of the 155 in that line, or stiffer?

A little better this week. Was on a 13'7 155 gripping at about 12'7. This was my second attempt at 3.87m, just wasn't moving the pole at all. Standards were at 55, and are usually back at 75-80.
