If Dragila was naturally left-footed and did more than alright, then decathlete21 shouldn't have problems either! I would think it would take a lot more effort than it's worth, especially for a decathlete... If he were looking for 6.00, that might be different.
Just my thoughts.

Re: Summer Training
High bar... track... sand pit... runway....... then weight room or pool. Those should be probably be your off season priorities.

Re: right footed right handed vaulter
Altius also said, "Just work to improve your run and plant - at 12' I suspect they could do with some improvement!" In the perfect world, he probably wouldn't want to move his run back too quickly. In this world, especially as a decathlete, it's REALLY worth the points to move back to 8 if...

Re: right footed right handed vaulter
Not at this point, no way! That would've been something to decide right off the bat, not after already having jumped 12'6"... Unless you just started vaulting this year? If so I would try some basic drills left handed and see how it feels, then ask, "Is it worth the work to overcome the aw...

Center of Mass.
When you're carrying a pole it's slightly in front of where it normally is (so running is slightly different).

Re: 11'6 pole vault critique needed!
It was definitely a little vague... Basically, you don't want your palm facing the ground if you're carrying the pole parallel to the ground. It should face almost entirely out to the right. Does this make sense? I'll find pictures if you need them. Carrying the pole correctly relieves a lot of stre...

Re: 11'6 pole vault critique needed!
My first thoughts are that your run is off balance (you're leaning way forward), and that this combined with a very over-gripping bottom hand (your hand is on top of the pole rather than supporting it from underneath) lead to a late plant and a take-off position 18"-2' under. The pole should no...

Re: End of the year tips?
It starts out pretty much on time... But then there's this big pause as you bring it up past your head. If you didn't hitch like that it would be right on time or close to it. It also seems like you're carrying the pole way to the right side of your body... Moving your left hand more towards your ce...

Re: how far do you feel comfortable running from...
Trey,
What do you do for long jump? I looked at the first footage that came up on youtube (your 7.83 at Berlin in '09), and you looked pretty balanced there... Looked like a lot more than 6! Why do you think you have trouble translating that run to the vault?
