Re: run...
So, when I run, I tend to 'clomp" my feet on the ground by putting a lot of pressure...it's very audible. I've heard that I need to put less pressure on the ground when I run, because it's wasting energy and killing my speed. However, when I try to put less pressure, I have to go on my toes in...

Re: NC State...
It doesn't look like it after taking a look at their website.
However the best thing to do isn't to ask here, your friends should email the coach and ASK if he is interested in having vaulters on the team.

Re: Non-Petrovers
Here I must take issue. The positions later in the jump are dependent on what came before them, and in the case of the Petrov model the early extension up the pole is not as difficult as it seems once the prerequisites are achieved. The vault done right should feel smooth and natural and most impor...

Re: Non-Petrovers
If they agreed to try and fix it, I think it might be like trying to fix Charles Barkely's golf swing (funny show BTW)... multiplied by ten! Possible over a decade, but only with super intense training under a premier coach... I say it would be multiplied by ten because of the SPEED involved... The...

Re: Crawfish Street Vault - May 2, 2009
I am definitely interested in going but transportation seems to be the only issue as I am a broke unattached vaulter. Unless someone may be driving down from the mid atlantic region?

Re: No Swing Up- Alternate Techniques?
Hey everybody, After 2 years of pole vaulting, I have given up on learning to incorporate a swing and turn over into my vaults. I am very fast and strong, but it's just something that after many drills I've decided I can't do. Right now I just plant and kinda row myself over the bar in an upright p...

Re: Weight Room
You don't even need a gymnastics room! Do you have a wrestling room or mats? Handstands Roll Back pushups Inverted pushups Also, there are tons of two person balance strengthening drills to be done. Get your P.E. instructor to show them to you. Hits Bubkas on the bar in the weight room Work your cor...

Re: PA camps?
Without a doubt Skyjumpers will give you the most bang for your buck. There is one at Kutztown University this July. The info is at skyjumpers.com under camps. I went to the camp the summer before my junior year and by the end of my next track season I had increased my pr by three feet (9 feet to 12...

There are a whole bunch of threads on this already but...
Yes! I have not used the original PV Lites but I can tell you having just got the Zooms that they are awesome.

They should be fine. However, I would say the 100 meters would be more ideal.

Re: The One-Arm Drill
Although I think it is evident Petrov is the best coach out there right now, I believe some people in this thread are taking too much stock in his opinions. If Petrov hypothetically said that jagodins were worthless because you never finish a vault like that in competition, would you take his word f...

Re: 14'6" - Need New Pole?
I agree with the points Kirk made. On your 14'6 jump I think you could have done a slightly better job getting taller at the plant with big arms. I also think you could work on a longer trail leg in addition to Kirk's emphasis on inversion.
