Butt plugs - should I care?

Are there advantages or disadvantages to various butt plugs? Do the materials they are made of make a difference? In what way? What effect does the hardness of the material have? Is the primary difference just a matter of how durable they are or does it make a difference in a vaulter's jumps?

Just to understand, would keeping your head in it's normal (as it is when your are not vaulting) position relative to your torso be bad? Would you consider that "throwing your head back"?

Where to look during the jump?

Looking at the bar makes at almost impossible for me to get properly inverted. But that continues to be a difficult habit for me to break. If you want to see an extreme example of not looking at the bar, just watch the two videos of Tommy Skipper posted on the site. I am trying to learn to look up b...

Reno was a great experience for me. This was my first time. But I didn't jump as well as I should have. I jump in masters and the way they grouped us for the competition was by height cleared in the past year. This puts a lot of different age groups together so other people in your age group could b...

I have numbers on my tennis ball halves. They correspond to the number of lefts that they mark. I have been concerned that they could be moved accidently so I sometimes put a piece of tape down also, although I'm not sure that does much good.

I have been dealing with a similar problem for a year or two. Evaluation of my shoulder by doctors and machines says my right shoulder joint is rather loose, partly because of my age. But I have been able to work through it. For me, the first thing is to get the inflamation down. That can be done wi...

.... I was bringing a can of lighter fluid with me (zippo type) I'd squirt a little on top of the tape and "work" it alittle and it would revive the sticky that was on and in the tape............Mike A fellow masters vaulter I jump with uses lighter fluid as you describe. He did that back when he w...

Ok, I used to start my runs about 110' back of the box. Figuring that my stride was roughly 6 feet means that my steps were roughly 9 lefts?Mike Don't forget to subtract the distance your take off foot is back from the box before you do your calculation. For example if your take off is from 11 feet...
