Re: PV Technique Help

I also watched a lot of Bubka and saw how my takeoff is. I altered my takeoff to make it look like my teammate's (video here http://youtube.com/watch?v=gWe-CpkY3qM) since he jumps higher than me, but I can clearly see now that was a mistake. I noticed how I am actually ready for my plant too early,...

Try this https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/31558_10200897186726228_898635209_n.jpg It maybe be that my co-coach down loaded it on our club's Facebook page which I have for a closed group. If you have a Facebook account go to G-Force Vault Club and request to join. Or PM me your email addre...

Re: PV Technique Help

MLein, go to the address and take a look at the training pyramid. You start with number 1 and move through the pyramid as each section is mastered. For example when you get to 4, your workout for the day is to do all of 1, all of 2, all of 3 and then work on mastering 4. When you get through number ...

Re: PV Technique Help

Grandvaulter, You must not have seen his video or read any of his comments. Yes there are many advantages to a bending pole but as Alan himself has said, American boys feel that they are pole vaulting if they can bend a pole (usually by blocking) and do a pop up, or as Alan calls it a rock back. The...

New hips for old pole vaulters

Hey gang! Got me a new left hip May 14th. Sure feels a lot better than that bone on bone crap that I have been dealing with for the last couple of years. Things are going fine and no I'm not back jumping yet. I was just wondering though, are there any masters vaulters that have had hip replacement (...

Re: PV Technique Help

OK my boy, let's get this straight once and for all. YOU CAUSING THE POLE TO BEND DOES NOT MAKE YOU JUMP HIGHER. IT IS NOT A DESIRED CONSCIOUS THING THAT YOU INITIATE IN THE POLE VAULT. IT JUST HAPPENS IF THE TECHNIQUE IS CORRECT. . Stay on the stiff poles as long as you can because it will require ...

Re: PV Technique Help

As to improvement I saw a little in your run up but you were still leaning too far over. You didn't look like Bubka. Now, let's get back to this bending pole thing. The only advantage to a bending pole is that it shortens the cord between your grip and the pole tip. With correct technique you can ta...

Re: PV Technique Help

Where do you live? (What part of the country are you in)? You need to find the closest Alan Launder clinic to you and go to it. There are so many things that you need to fix if you want to excel at this event. Attending one of his clinics will get you the tools that you will need to do things right ...

Re: PV Technique Help

Let's start from the beginning. First of all you need to improve your run up start, run up and pole carry. You're leaning forward when you run which shifts your hips(pelvis) down toward the ground so you're not running tall or having any chance of reaching maximum velocity as well as this run puts y...

Re: Coach in distress

Altius beat me to it. Get the BTB and Isy too DVD and give it to him and just say "ya know? I really could use your help but this is what I coach. Please take it home and watch it and then come back and help". I was at an Alan Launder clinic this past weekend and he allowed us coaches to h...

Re: Use stickum or not to use stickum ?

Yep, Tuff Skin. Doesn't sweat off like Firm Grip (never used stickum). I think it's a personal choice. I must admit that I see more vaulters using chalk than I do Tuff Skin or stickum. Yes, I too have had a pole stick to my hands when I'm about to clear a bar. Maybe because I've used it for 50 years...

Re: How do you deal with parents?

Vault purple hit it on the head. As to the boy, was his attendance to the meet a make or break for the rest of his career? Or would a great performance make your team or club look good? Out of State trips are expensive and with things as expensive as they are today the family budget might not be abl...
