Re: pushing back out during the swing?
Since the top arm is further from the fulcrum(the box) would that not give you more mechanical advantage than using the bottom arm? That is the whole idea of how wrenches work correct?

Re: pushing back out during the swing?
So just to clarify, I believe the forward and upward extension of the bottom hand throughout the downswing provides the following benefits: 1. It maintains the full hollow body elastivity of the shoulder joints just like the gymnast tap on the high bar. Any pulling during this stage of the vault wo...

Re: please help me make the right decision!
You need to look beyond college for this decision. What are you interested in doing the rest of your life. Pick a degree or school for their academics first, then start thinking about pole vault to help break ties. In all likelihood you will not be making your living pole vaulting in 10 years, so ge...

Re: Choosing the right college Vault program
First and foremost.....find the best SCHOOL for you. Likely you will not make you living by pole vaulting. The only program I know well of these is Villanova since I coach in their conference and personally know their coach. he is a quality coach and you would likely be their top male vaulter as the...

Also, when you take an NCAA drug test you have to write down all the meds you are taking. Even multi vitamins. So the testers would know what to expect if an athlete was taking a nasal spray.

Re: 16' PR any advice welcome
As i have given you some advice before, Your plant and vault are fine. You are doing what i call a bent arm hold space BLOCK, almost a clutch. If you would have a EARLY bent arm PRESS SUPPORT UP and to the LEFT, you could get back much earier and catch a huge blow up off the pole and acctually clea...

Re: did i set my goal too high ?
Gripping that low your goals would be pretty difficult. You need to be gripping at least 13 6 to even think about a 16 foot jump. That would be jumping 38 inches over you grip which is what elite vaulters do

I feel like we are going in circles. David, you have told us,ad naseum, what is the incorrent way to vault. Please tell us the correct way. I have read a lot of critiques from you about the petrov model, yet very little insite from you as to what is good technique.

Re: Hamstring injury won't go away
I've been dealing with something similar for over 4 years now... Get rid of it now while its still fresh! In addition to the previous comments, I recommend seeing a massage therapist. If you don't have the money for that, find a lacrosse ball and a hard surface to penetrate into the tissue to break...

Re: Kinesio / Rock Tape
Kinesio tape can prevent or even help muscular recovery by helping to circulate blood flow. Read below to find out more. I still have yet to see a good randomized controlled study that has proven that Kinesio tape workes.....If you have one I would love to have it. I'm not saying that it doesn't wo...
