Re: Swing Efficiency Comparison: Bubka, Tradenkov, Lavillenie
Decamous: "why is it none of the upper level coaches every talk about it in terms likes this" PVDaddy "Why is it they don't talk about a lot of things and educate us more? They sure like to promote themselves and their book though don't they!" Not sure how many folk have written ...

Re: Another beginner in the "real world"
Looking good! Just work on the high bar - emphasising left leg = then long swings onto the pad - ditto - then stiff pole over a bar off 6 or eight steps - same focus. The inversion is the most difficult phase for beginners to begin to master. Just don't give many pieces of information - cues - just ...

Re: Swing Efficiency Comparison: Bubka, Tradenkov, Lavillenie
Kirk - I understand this is the Advanced section but surely the aim of Pole Vault Power is always to clarify and educate, not to complicate and obfuscate. I have spent time with some of the great vault coaches of the world and apart from their passion the one thing they all have in common is their a...

"As to my vaulters. As I've said, you said you needed a year to formulate a vaulter. WHEN DID I SYA THAT -DOES THIS MEAND THAT YOU HAVE READ BTB2??? I had 3 months with bad weather and injuries. Still, I've produced in 3 years two milespilt AG elites - NOT SURE WHAT THAT MEANS - WOULD APPRECIAT...

Re: Swing Efficiency Comparison: Bubka, Tradenkov, Lavillenie
You both continue to ignore the fact that Bubka jumped much higher than 6.16 on many occasions - but for commercial reasons the bar wasn't at that height - take a look at the photo I use here! Clearing a 6.01 bar by nearly 40 cm! The reason is simple, Bubka was out there on his own - he had no one t...

Re: Swing Efficiency Comparison: Bubka, Tradenkov, Lavillenie
"I contend the more you know the more the simplicity of the event reveals itself. Understanding intellectually is one thing. Expressing that understanding though personal actions is also very revealing of the amount of wisdom from experience required to sort pole vault science from the fiction....

Re: altius in the USA this summer
As I understand it it means - "Many little things add up to a big one." Certainly that is the sense in which I use it.
Heres another one I give my athletes, "Reculer pour mieux sautez."

"One other thought: DVDs are getting to be a bit old-fashioned. If you could devise a means to download your vid for a fee (being careful not to get ripped off - outlawing re-publishing on youtube or elsewhere), then you might sell more copies. Just a thought." Thanks Kirk -but remember th...

An Australian Approach to developing pole vaulters. http://youtu.be/sc3GZS-D6P4 12 year old girl DRIVING THE POLE UP AND FORWARDS - no attempt to bend it but notice it is just beginning to flex . She jumped 9'9" 'stiff poling' in March - with the take off she has and the swing she is beginning to develop she will jump 11'6" or more next sea...
