Re: Keeping Arms Straight?!?!
Look, I don't even care what you're saying anymore. I'm thinking it right I just don't know how to explain it. It works for me and i'm not a bad vaulter. Nobody is saying you are a bad vaulter, but as Brad says in his interview, is the force applied through the top hand during the jump. Believing, ...

Re: Keeping Arms Straight?!?!
OK, I'm sorry for the bad language earlier. I honestly thought that I was right. If you're not bending the pole with your bottom arm by keeping it straight, how do you do it with your top arm? The pole bends due to the force applied THROUGH the top hand. The energy represented by your body mass in ...

Re: Keeping Arms Straight?!?!
The only arm you should keep straight, is your top arm. You do NOT use your bottom arm to force the pole to bend. The pole bends due to the force applied by your top hand. At take-off, should your top hand be directly above your toes, and the arm of the top hand FULLY extended (including the shoulde...

Re: Pole Vault Manifesto
I find this video rather interesting. Is the bending of the pole the result of pulling or just the weight of the vaulter? He's definately not swinging from his top hand alone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QX-sJlKrrbQ&feature=related It's obvious that to accelerate their inversion they would h...

Re: Worst indoor season ever ?
http://www.stabhoch.com/epvc/petrov_plan.pdf I think the crux of Alan's point is, that you need to have a mentality that allows grinding drills. Perfecting small elements by isolating them in drills that allows a big number of repetitions, and transfer them into full jumps later into the season. Fu...

Re: Worst indoor season ever ?
This is only possible if the planting action and timing are absolutely precise. I believe that this is a bigger weakness in most vaulters than lack of speed - in part it is because many athletes are not prepared to undertake the repetitive training necessary to perfect it - through less than full a...

Re: "Row" the pole
What he may be asking for is continual pressure down with the top hand during inversion. On the other hand if you are new to this event, he may be getting a little ahead of where you currently are technique wise. Later...........Mike  Rowing as if in a canoe, not a row boat. Check this video o...

Re: 1st South American 5.80
Haven't seen this anywhere... Fábio Gomes da Silva of Brazil cleared 5.80 on 2/26 in São Caetano do Sul. Had the pleasure of being referee last year, when he competed in Copenhagen Athletics Games. Very pleasant and extremely focused. We had rain during the entire competition. He entered the compet...

Re: Angelica Bengtsson will get help from Petrov
it never hurts to get in put... and keep learning and it sounds like her dad (and others) know where they want to go and can continue to find "Q.s" that will blend in and keep her progressing... Well, it might, if the methods are in opposition, and ego's are too big. At XL-Galan, where sh...
