Re: Does the Russian model represent ideal technique?

[quote] Why are vaulters now not getting that much more blow in comparison to vaulters on stiff poles? Is what you're teaching as a coach setting an athlete up to jump higher or to look the part?[/quote This is what I tell people. (Courtesy of Roman and Dan Issac) Forget about pretty jumps, look for...

Re: What does the bottom arm do????

Why do you want to get into an inverted C position? Do you achieve this on a rigid pole?

High bars for sale?

Hey I remember seeing a high bar at Reno last year that some company was selling that was all metal construction and was on wheels, but I can't seem to find it online. I really want to order one and if anyone can point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: appendix to the take off point in fg. vaulting

Sir you have yet to answer my question. What is the difference between jumping on a stiff pole and a flexible one (ie, fiberglass or carbon)? And what is the advantage of a fiberglass pole? Would you tell a vaulter jumping on a stiff pole (not fiberglass) that they should take off under? Please resp...

Re: The location of the take off point in fiberglass pole vaulti

DJ great posts, I again will say I don't understand what David B. is advocating and I asked on a previous post an important questions. I would like to know what David B. think that the advantage a fiberglass pole has over a stiff pole (bamboo, aluminum)? The answer to this question may be very revea...

DJ I was actually asking about what david bussabarger wants coaches to think. I feel like I am on the same page with you and Alan. I just don't understand what Bussabarger is trying to say, or if he's just trying to stir the pot.

Re: The location of the take off point in fiberglass pole vaulti

I agree DJ I think we all know what the take-off point should be, and further I completely agree with your comments about the step. I see coaches, way too often, moving athletes back on the runway when they actually need to run better. And when these athletes are moved back they just over stride (lo...
