Re: WEIGHT RATINGS on poles 2010 NFHS RULES
So, does this mean a perfectly fine pole from the 80's cannot be used in competition any longer just because the ring can't be replaced/added? Very few of our poles (I vaulted on these particular poles) had more than etchings for length and weight rating. I find that this pretty much flies in the f...

Re: Help buying bigger pole!!
I have a Pacer III 165 that has been labeled and is high school legal in Palm Coast, FL. My Spirit 165 is in Missouri and I will be bringing those poles home in 2 or 3 weeks.
Also, I have an Essx 14' 7" 178 that is slightly stiffer than a 15' 165 (in Florida).
PM me if you would like.

Re: Help buying bigger pole!!
Where are you? I have a series of Spirit poles from 150 to 165 lb. Some are in Florida and some are in Missouri. They are all for sale. I think a pole with a flex in the 18s is what you need (about a 15' 165 in Spirit).

Re: Weighing vaulters....
 I have an idea!! Let's make a rule that the pole must be rated 20 lbs over the vaulter's weight!! Then let's disqualify anyone who lands outside the PLZ!! Then let's count it as a miss if the vaulter doesn't go over the middle 3 feet of the crossbar!! Let's require masters degrees of all coac...

Yes, holding over the weight band is dangerous only for high school vaulters.

Re: Automatic Standards - SHOULD BE BANNED
That being said, rather than banning them altogether, I think that they should be analyzed to figure out what is causing them to fail so often. Once the weak point(s) is/are established, the engineer should go back to the drawing board and redesign them in a more proper manner, changing what needs ...

Re: Pole Markings - Where Are They?
Rainbow Girl, I was pretty sure the wording prohibited holding above the label, not on it. What is the wording?

Re: Pole Markings - Where Are They?
The yellow band that lists the Max Weight, etc. is the upper handhold mark (top of the band). If it is at the top of the pole, the top of the pole is the max handhold, which is the way it should be, because to buy six inches of pole that you can't use seems silly to me.

Re: High School Vaulting in the Rain
You've got it, Kirk. Use judgement. We don't need the central government to tell whether or not we vault. Meet officials determine if the vault will be held. The athletes determine if they will participate.

Re: High School Vaulting in the Rain
Let them vault!!! My first gold medal was won in a driving rainstorm. I was still a stiff-poler, so it was no problem to grip down and clear 10' (I was about an 11' 6" vaulter at the time). I beat the guy who went on to place second at state that year. I am sure he was not as ashamed to lose in...

I have a Spirit 14-130 that I would like to sell. It is in excellent condition, but doesn't have a weight sticker. I am in Florida.
