Re: Fear in take-off
If i were to grip 13' on a 13'6 pole, i would reach in my last 2 steps and jump at 6 feet again, causing me to be inside when really at around 13' my take off mark is around 7'. unless your sliding down the pole or your 8' tall it's impossible to grip 13' and take off at 6' without falling flat on ...

Re: indoor competition
Tom, good to hear from you. there is a sprinkler pipe that the standard will barely clear on the left at 16' but they will still go all the way up.

Re: appendix to does the russian model represent ideal tech.
I have been reading all the posts on pvp about which technical model is best and have a few questions. first of all I'm just a long time high school coach. I have never coached college or elite vaulters so my expertise isn't at the same level as most of you posting here I have read btb and think it'...

pit for sale
we have 3 pole vault base units 5'6"x11' and 3 high jump mats 5'6"x8' we discovered these last summer after 30 years in a storage shed. guess nobody in grounds keeping knew what they were. I jumped on this pit in high school. no front pads or top cover for either pit. pits are in very good...

Re: Discrepancy Between East and West
In the west the men had constant rain, sometimes heavy enought to stop competition but had a tail wind. women had way less rain but started into a head wind then changed to a pretty good tail wind then switched back and forth. some got lucky, some didn't. was very impressed with the women who made b...

Re: Keeping Arms Straight?!?!
just curious about the 1 handed jumpers, is this an actual vault with a bent pole or just gripping high enough on a straight pole to ride over the bar?

IAAF rule question
at last years Prefontain meet one of the vaulters had a ring of tape just below her bottom hand that must have been close to 3/8 of an inch thick. It looked to me like there was actually a plastic ring under the tape since the shape was so perfect. The only rule we could find just says you can have ...
