If the fence surrounding the competition area is barbed wire. If people are putting up track tents with broken off tree branches & poles. If instead of medals, winners receive Wal-Mart gift cards. If your coaches are wearing tight acid washed blue jeans & a cut off T-shirt or tight "bea...

If you take down a section of your neighbors chain link fence when they're not home so you can fit in a longer run. And you then become quite proficient at putting it back up when you see headlights pull into their driveway.

If your standards keep malfunctioning because falling poles keep knocking the vice grips off. Oh my gosh, it's like you were at my house last summer! If at a local track meet, when the official starter said he ran out of shots, one of the parents says, "you can use my 22." When being prep...

That's a cool set up. Mjaubbs, are you recommending that such long posts need to go in 4', that 3' won't be enough? I need to put them in 4' deep due to the frost line in Western NY, but I do think that 4' deep 6x6's in concrete will definitely help the stability, to go along with the same type of ...

That's a cool set up. I want to build one in the ground in my backyard. Problem is finding posts that are long enough. If I go three feet down i will need at least 12 foot posts. If I want to have the option of rings, they probably have to be 16 feet. Anyone have any ideas? I have 14' 6x6's which w...

When in a pinch, you break up a few hay bails to cover your standards and any hard surfaces around the pit. When your kids sneak a pole out of the garage to vault across the creek in the back woods. When you find out that your youngest son tried using the pole for fishing. When your meet sun hat is ...

After a lot of great input from many people. We are considering changing the date. So, if it's wide open--when is the best time to hold a PV Summit indoors in the Buffalo/Rochester, NY area for 2009?
We need to hear from the people who would want to go, so here's your chance to have a say....

When you get little pieces of chalk caught in your beard before meeting your future mother in law. When you use safety pins from your competition bib # on your baby's diapers. When you use your tractor for platform/tower vault drills. When you ask your friends/family to grab some grip tape from the ...

Given the date is this an outdoor event? An indoor event would be better since its success would not be at the mercy of the weather. This will be an indoor meet. It would most likely be after indoor NCAA's but before the outdoor season meets begin to pick up. Ideally, I would like to see an Eastern...

Eastern PV Summit 2009

We are slowly moving forward with planning a 2 day Pole Vault Summit-like event on the east side of the country, specifically the Buffalo-Rochester, New York area. The tentative date is late March/early April, 2009. Here is the tentative skeleton schedule-- Friday AM: registration & social Frida...
