Slightly off topic, but has a list of those competing at the Olympic Qualifers been published yet?

Re: Any advice would be great( swing, run, plant)
First, you are planting under. I can tell this because your pole is bent prior to you leaving the ground. If you can correct this by moving back the start of your run, great, otherwise, you are in for a lot of plant box drills, etc. The next thing is your trail leg is not straight as your go into yo...

Re: Any advice welcome
Its really hard to see what he is doing because of where the camera is. Try filming from the side, and about 5-10' back from the bar.
I think on the first video I'm seeing a top arm that is not straight, and if so, plant drills are the place to start. Better video, please.

Re: Help, i can't get vertical when moving up a pole.
OK I'll give this a stab. First, this should probably be on the video analysis board. Next, the video you posted does not show your run-up. Even though your question is related to the top of the vault, these problems are commonly caused earlier in the vault From what I can see, it looks like your pl...

Re: new to coaching pole vault
Make sure you know the technical model that you will teach. When I started coaching PV, all I knew to do was look at video of Olympians and then see how close I could get my kids to that. I suppose that wasn't the worst way to start, but I've spent a lot of time fixing problems I've caused because I...

Re: Gaining confidence
Good practice can and should include visualization. Of the correct technique. This should be done during practice, during the day, before going to sleep at night, right before jumping. If you can't see yourself succeeding, you have no chance. Just make sure you are visualizing the correct things, or...

Re: Help, New to pole vaulting
For your run, get some mini hurdles (about 6-9" tall, depending on your height), space them out on the track, and run through them while carrying the pole. About 3' apart is good for making your feet move fast, 4'-5' is usually about right for overall speed in terms of stride length and cadence...

Re: Pull, turn & push while staying in line with your pole better
I like using a plant box, starting from a sitting position and then extending out. It not only allows varying weights for resistance if you load the plant box with weights, it also allows the sensation of pushing the pole away from you at the "top" of the drill. I saw this demonstrated abo...

Re: If I'm 5 lbs overweight, will pole break?
The other question you should be asking is "will the competition rules in my state allow me to use a pole if I"m 5 lbs over the pole weight rating?" Right now the NFHS rules will not allow it, and many states mirror those rules.

Re: Sliding Box construction
Good luck convincing the school - I wouldn't even try at mine as the BB floor gets more respect than a shrine. It sounds like you got the weight right, but I've seen weight plates from the weight room used to add weight for drills that don't involve planting, and that works very well.
