Pole Progression

I have got a new, stiffer pole and I was wondering if I should use this stiffer pole at practice or use my lighter pole and THEN move to the stiffer pole in practice. My theory is that moving from a lighter pole to a stiffer pole will be harder than just working with the stiffer pole the whole time....

Routine?

Do you all have a set routine that you do before you jump (stretches, warm ups)? I seem to do something different every time I jump.

What is your routine

Hand Grip Question

I was looking at Bubba's chart and it indicated that in order to jump 14'6" a vaulter should have a 13'9" hand grip. (http://www.bubbapv.com/Pages/dj.htm) Unfortunately, I have a UCS Spirit 14'1" 140lb pole that has the pink safety tape around 13'7" (which is the highest I guess ...

thanks for the beneficial replies OH-IOvaulter, what do you mean by: but doing so from your 1' under take off position (at least on the one vault video you posted) would lead to an unsafe vault (i.e. pole possibly breaking). Also, I try to not be so under, but I think it's an unconscious action. Is ...

New PR 14', Please Critique

I PRed at Regions, and I just want to know what are some of my weaknesses and strengths so that I can work on my weaknesses and continue with my strengths I know my left arm collapses. However, I thought I try really hard to push up with my two arms... Height-14' I am on a 14' UCS Spirit, griping ar...

So I should plant sooner (a split second before the pole hits the back of the box)?

Thanks for the insightful replies.

The next time I jump, I will practice on planting with a straighter/straight left arm, and swinging my trial leg all the way through.

Is that a good point to start?

Is keeping the left arm semi-straight when planting very important? Because I seem to collapse it totally for a split second, and then bring it out again. Is the punch up with the left arm essential to a good vault? Because I have never heard/done it. Also, is having my trail leg straight all the wa...
