The WCSN commentators think Polnova got called for Volzing. I did not see that on the video. First time I can recall a woman being called for that in a major meet. I don't think there's any way she could've done that. The bar was still bouncing on the pegs when she was a meter below on the way down...

I know that we need to go up in length. So the next pole should be a 14'7" pole. Next question, carbon or not? Is carbon worth an extra $100 on a 14'7" pole? This question, I can answer...No! save the $$ and put it towards the next next pole when the time comes. Of course, sometimes it de...

I bought Jonathan a stiff 14' 165 Skypole while we were at Bell Athletics last week. He used it today at a meet. He's jumping real high with it, just landing a little shallow. (standards at 18") His grip is 13'9". Here's the kicker, we won a free Essex pole in the raffle. What size should...

If it were me I would save money and go Skypole. If money is no object though or if somebody else was paying, nothing wrong with carbon. Just keep in mind that getting the pole size is more important than the color of the pole (although those new silver ones do look sweet).

Can't go wrong with 1/4 inch pyramid although I've always been partial to Ceramic Omni-Lite 1/4" Christmas Tree spikes in the color Olympic Gold (yeah, dreaming I know but that is what is in my shoes). http://www.omni-lite.com/usage.php If you are taking shoes, I have yet to find a pair I liked...

I am typing without consulting the rules, but I believe that heights in jump offs for first place do count for finishing height. The jump off above was not for place but for the spot on the team. So, I would think that the result would stand as a tie for 3rd place at 435. The 3rd placer clearing hig...

There is no such thing as a "girl's pole," but make sure you don't get stuck with a left handed pole, jumping on one of those if you are right handed can be dangerous. Of course, no matter the label, for even a 15' pole i doubt that the carbon is worth the extra cost unless you got one on ...

Re: One arm pull ups

Has anyone ever seen anyone do a true one arm pull up (not one hand on the bar and other hand holding on to wrist)? I remember hearing that only like one in a "million" can do one. Oh yeah, has to be done from a dead hang, no swinging. Would really like to see video if anyone has it. Than...

that may be true, but I could go on for a long time about how great Gary Kasparov was, but that still wouldn't make him an athlete
