Stolen Poles in Webberville

Everyone, I've been contacted by the coach from Webberville to spread the word. Someone broke into their track shed last Thursday(5/14/09) and stole ALL of their poles. Please keep an eye out for anyone trying to sell poles from the mid-Michigan area. Let me know if you hear anything suspicious. I'l...

Re: A Sad Day in Michigan Pole Vault

My thoughts and prayers go out to Oran's family. He will be missed by many. He was a great coach and a great personality to be around.

I'll see you in heaven my friend.

What do you still have available? We are looking for something in that range. How much are you willing to sell for one pole?

True, but a vaulter can be left hanging without five alive as well....

Trying to pick up that last 1 or 2 vaulters in a five alive system will give them the best chance at not being left hanging....

We had an issue at the division 1 state meet back in 2004 I believe it was. We had the top ranked girl going in at 11'6". Second was at 11'0" and third was 10'6 and dropping off quickly after that. Coaches were not allowed in the competition area during the meet. The bar was measured at ev...

When I'm running a high school meet I'll give them 30mins. If its only a duel or double duel meet, then they are usually done sooner. If its a bigger meet, then they'll just have to be efficient with their warmup. 30-40 jumpers can get 3-4 jumps in during a half hour period. Its not a place to work ...

The longer run will probably increase your height. Should you do it? Probably not! The added length in your run will add speed to you jump and while that may improve your height now, it also covers up a lot of technical errors that someone only doing it 8 days would have. if you're doing 9ft from 4 ...

Could be a muscular imbalance. Too much abdominal work and not enough with the back can mess things up pretty easily. Unless instructed by a coach, most athletes don't put a lot of work into strengthening the back in the weight room. I have a gymnast this year who has chronic back pain, partially du...

Question for you Sooch.... I can see the benefit in your drill. I'm going to try it out tonight to see if I can get the hang of it. When planting, are you trying to plant the pole tip on the finish line? Or simply get that last left in before you hit the line...? Thanks! I may pass this down to my k...

Your drive knee looks good. Its your trail leg that isn't working for you. Work on a long sweeping trail leg. The main area that, in my opinion, is going to get you to 11ft is your speed. Your cadence and running form look pretty good, could get your knees up during your run better, but your overall...

I've had several of my kids do the same thing. Its all mental. Your eyes and mind are aware of how far out you need to be to take off and subconciously adjust your steps accordingly. You aren't making the mental decision to adjust them. If I have bumped a kids starting point back 2 or 3 times and th...
