What would be the use in this type of vaulting. Yeah you can attain higher heights because of the speed. But wouldn't this give a false sense of speed when you get back to a flat runway, and raise the likelyhood of stalling out?? I think having a tail wind show up at a meet would be less effective a...

I picture it as a runway with a slight downward slope towards the pit....

favorite for me would be indoors at Grand Valley State University. The track runs underneath the stands for the backside straightaway. The runway and pit is right next to that. So the crossbar sits right at the eye level for the fans. I've never even seen a downhill runway....wouldn't that cause thi...

least favorite here was definately the walking plants. Very crucial drills but so very boring. most favorite is the gymnastics room drills, highbar, rings, walking on hands, trying to do handstand pushups unassisted in the middle of the floor. Lots of fun in there. I can't wait to get back to it!!!!

I plan on attending along with a friend of mine, both vaulters. We'll be in the coaches division though, as we're both recovering from injuries, and will both be coaching high schoolers this coming spring. I really hope to meet up with a bunch of you while I"m there and just get to know some more va...

we always use a special tape that we get from MF athletics... Its a lot like the grip tape used on tennis rackets. After using that I'll never go back. It lasts for around 2yrs or so depending on use, and works great in all weather conditions.

very good post, I recommend seeing a doctor too. I tore cartilage and strained the rotator cuff in mid vault a few years ago, and thats what I did. The doc's told me to do these specific excercises to strengthen the rotator cuff, but only using resistance bands. It worked great. after a few months m...

I vaulted all last spring on a torn acl and torn cartilage in my shoulder(top arm), and also threw jav. But I only took the ibuprofen on meet days. Things would hurt like hell all week, but come meet time, man did I feel 110% better. That natural enzyme sounds like something worth looking into. How ...

vaulter treatment.....

During my 4yrs of vaulting at our school, we(the track teams) were treated very poorly. Disrespect from all other sports, coaches, athletic directors, trainers, etc. We hadn't purchased any poles for about 5yrs until my sophomore year when they realized that I(the best vaulter they had) wouldn't be ...
