Re: Using Bottom Hand Pressure

I meant to post this prior to reading but got so wrapped up in it I read one page and didn't even realize i somehow started on page 11. But, Anyways here is my train of thought. Note I am by no means a person who considers themselves a great physics person (Couldn't spell the proper name)...

Re: Using Bottom Hand Pressure

I completely understand, I also understand most of the concepts behind not using the bottom hand. But, how is space created if there is not atleast an initial pop of the bottom hand at the point of which the vaulter leaves the ground. It will completely destroy the swing and does not create a space ...

Using Bottom Hand Pressure

I recently had a thread I discussed the use of bottom hand pressure in an up and back motion with KirkB. (I teach it, he doesn't to make that clear.) I am still working on making changes to my coaching techniques and probably always will. I am including clips of one of my vaulters to show a basic id...

Re: Left Arm doesn't collapse when going inverted. What do I do?

Kirk B- With this being true I can see where my success has been in coaching. With my main focus being posture, chest, hips, trail leg, drive knee and last but not least by anymeans speed/accelerating thru takeoff. But, Over the years I have placed a lot of value on using the bottom arm to create sp...

Re: Left Arm doesn't collapse when going inverted. What do I do?

Sorry, I don't agree with this at all. Based on physics, it should be obvious that pressing the bottom arm up will SLOW DOWN the swing - not speed it up. Pressing prevents your body from swinging. It may make the pole bend more, but it will kill your swing. The faster the swing, the more continuous...

Re: Left Arm doesn't collapse when going inverted. What do I do?

I am amazed that no one has commented on this sooner... Although I can not give you an answer which will magically solve your problem or the answer to your personal vault since I haven't seen it. I will tell you what I teach. (AGAIN NOT SAYING IT IS CORRECT FOR YOU IT VARIES BY THE TECHNIQUE IN EACH...

Re: m640 Pole Plant

I have been noticing a lot of talk about your 640 Model. And I have to admit I am a bit skeptical of what it might be you are teaching that is so for lack of a better term "revolutionary." I am a student of many styles of the vault but a master of none. I carry a passion about the sport wh...

Re: The Push Plant Issue resurrected!

I want to bring this topic back to light. I teach all of my vaulters learn to vault by push planting a pole. Over time we work to learn a proper carry (WE CROSS BODY CARRY) and work to critique pole drop, pole timing, and speed. I have done this for a few years now with vaulters at both the college ...
