I have one of those old browning silaflex skypoles - found it behind a pool, was probly sittin there for 10+ years. now all its good for is tearin apart to make pv apparatuses as well as launching bottle rockets and mortars out of.

yeah i thought the intro to polevault was also rather cheesy...one of the quotes i remember hearing about the "physics of the polevault" is that "the more the pole bends, the higher the vaulter goes" or something to that effect. wonder where they got their information for the "physics of the polevau...

wow, that assertion sounds somewhat ignorant. how about this: rarely do winners disagree with the judges decision, and those losers that do disagree with the judges' decision do so sometimes fairly and othertimes as a poor sport only as an attempt to sound/look better. yeah calry patterson aint bad at all, and if wha i hear is correct, you have to be at least 16 to compete in the olympics, and bein that i just turned 18.....a little close but i'd say its still okay.

Interestingly enough one of the older guys that vaults at UNM everyone now and then and is assistant coach at a nearby high school often vaults on an old yellow catapole, and ill tell you what, it feels surprisingly light in comparison with other same size fiberglass poles (its I believe a 14 165).....

Pros and cons for 5 yr. (or more) versus 4 yr.? how long have you been vaulting for? chances are not long enough to really know which brand fits you best. like others said, look through threads, play around on different poles, research the differences and find one that works for you. if there was one best pole then all the other brands would prob...
