Re: Gothenburg Pole Vault Carneval, Jørgensen 5,50meter
Great event. Good crowd, lots of PB's and lots of friendships are created. Had a nice chat with Steve Rippon. Jax Thoirs from Scotland, 1993, had 3 jumps over 5m during the week. The highest, 5,10m, is a scottish junior record.

Re: Training rant
Dig it. ESPECIALLY "See a doctor." Well, that certainly depends on the doctor :D If you go to a doctor here in Denmark with shin splints, will 90% of all doctors prescribe no running for 6 weeks. It removes the pain, so in essence, was the doctor correct, but it doesn't remove the reason ...

Re: WC Women Finals - Another great competition!
I don't think she's that into it anymore. I totally disagree. I have seen several interviews with here the last year (and also after the competition yesterday), and I'm sure that she will be back better than ever. Her jump on 4.75 was on a to soft pole, and the last on 4.80 on a to stiff. Her jump ...

Greetings, Eddie :) Hope it will be as entertaining as the mens final yesterday. Hope that I can find a feed that shows a lot of jumps. Watching a Eurosport fe...

Re: Pole vault workouts for 1 year
@Zach http://www.stabhoch.com/epvc/petrov_plan.pdf Check page 11. The general idea is to build a base of endurance. However, the need for an aerobic base is under discussion, but I think it is beneficial to body's ability to recover (both between training sessions, but also between jumps).

Copenhagen Athletics Games
Sparta in Copenhagen hosted Copenhagen Athletics Games. With all day rain, and temperatures around 12-13 deg. celsius, were the results not that great. Dustin Deleo, USA managed to jump his starting height of 5,25m in his third attempt, which was enough to win. Given the conditions, did he not jump ...

Re: Could Gataullin have put more energy into the system??
6P, I am not altius, but I think he and I agree about this particular aspect of technique. I feel that this (Greg D.'s first jump) is exactly the type of flexion that is desired to accelerate the swing. The flexion increases the "snap" and the leg still locks out to its maximum length thr...

http://www.friidrott.se/bilder/10530.jpg My personal favorite had these comments (translation from http://friidrott.se): In over a month has Melker Svärd Jacobsson not been able to jump because of a sprained ankle. He is extremely relieved after having conquered the silver medal in the pole vault f...

Re: IAAF World Youth Championships
I hope my personal favorite, Melker Svärd Jakobsson is ready. He had a mishap a few weeks ago, at Hässleholm GP. Immensely talented.
