Re: 2014 Jammin' & Jumpin' Street Vault

I just wanted to note to the vaulting community what a great event this was! As a guy who is trying to get back into vaulting and is pretty much working by himself all the time, it is easy to find yourself feeling like an "outsider" but the atmosphere here was very friendly and supportive....

Re: 56 and Is it possible?

I know you didn't ask for this advice, but I hope you can appreciate it. Kirk Thanks Kirk. I'm old enough now to know I should listen to anyone who is willing to offer help. I still have to figure out what will work for me but I've realized that if you stop listening you just might miss that ONE th...

Re: 56 and Is it possible?

I was a pretty successful stick vaulter back in my day so this whole "bending pole" thing is a brave new world. Straight pole vaulting in 1981? What planet is your state in, and what kind of pole? LOL I was from the planet where Fibreglass Poles apparently came in lengths of 14' and longe...

Re: 56 and Is it possible?

Glad you're still at it! I too have been working on my "come back". After a brief set back following indoor season (2 heart stints installed) outdoor has shown improvements for me in form and finally, in height. I started my "Come back" with CrossFit. I was re-starting from groun...

Henderson, KY - Street Vault??

Does anyone know if smtrackclub is going to do their Henderson, KY Street Vault this year (2014)?

Their site does not have any information past last year's event. Looks like it was a lot of fun.

Spike Recomendations

So there is a nice long thread on "Spikes for Beginners" but I was hoping for some current recommendations on spikes (jumping shoes) for the experienced vaulter.

What spikes do you use that you LIKE? Is there a site that reviews spikes?

Thanks.

Re: How high for college?

Something to keep in mind ... at some of these larger schools with big teams and big budgets, you may find yourself as just another name on a roster. You could go there for 4 years and unless you are winning BIG meets your head track coach might not even know who you are much less be able to recogni...

Re: WANTED - 10' to 11', lightweight pole(s)

Thanks for the heads up!

Any feel for the stiffness of the Mystic (is that Gill or Pacer)? They make a 10'6" 100 but it may be as stiff as the 10'8" Altius.
