Re: Invert, Failing to Invert

Sorry to bite off of this thread, but would you say that I have the same problem? Here is a video of me vaulting last week: https://youtu.be/kwdNBepiW9Q Any advice would be appreciated! Do yourself (and the original poster) a favor - repost your video in the "Video Review" section. You'll...

Re: leg hitting the pole

Hard to say without seeing a video. Make sure you are getting your arms fully extended before the pole hits the back of the box. If the top (right) hand is not above you, you will go off to that (right) side. If your top hand is beyond vertical and past the line of the spine (like over the left/oppo...

Re: Bending the pole and over bending the pole

Without videos, it is hard to give you advice. First, many HS vaulters, especially boys, tend to overly focus on bending the pole. The event is "pole vaulting" not "pole bending". I'm going to guess that when you learned how to bend the pole, it was by focusing on locking out the...

Re: Inversion trust issues

I agree with everything Kirk is advising. One additional thing I saw in your video is that you are pulling with both arms half way through your swing. When you pull then, the pole will start to un-bend (and before your are ready). If you stay long through the swing, and simultaneously move your stra...

I saw a video on Instragram by Vaulter Mag. Didn't know it was a HS kid. Wow, that's very impressive!!!!

Re: Difference with UCS poles

It has been my personal experience using both UCS and Pacer poles that the UCS poles are softer when using the same grip height. That kinda makes sense when you think about it. If the 150 rating on the UCS is at 12-7 on a 13-150, but the 150 rating is at 12-11 on a 13-150 Pacer, the Pacer will feel ...

Re: Help on getting rejected and moving my hips up

I believe it is mostly mental for you, because I see your takeoff issues amplified on the video with the 13-6 pole. You are trying harder and are even further under on takeoff - you don't stand a chance being that far under. What I see in all of your videos is that you are consistently taking off un...

Re: Buying a new pole

For these two vaulters, if they are able to use the existing pole 2 grips down (as well as holding higher), then yes, a 155 rated pole would be a good one to buy. If you can afford it, also get a 160.

Re: Swing help? Inversion advice?

In these videos, you are taking off under. It hinders your ability to swing. Also, keep the trail leg straighter - try to "kick the box"

Re: Stuck at 10' 6"

I don't think your problem is your pole or your grip. You are consistently not getting your hands/arms all the way up on your plant. This results in a very poor position to swing from - and you therefore can't get your hips up. But you also have a problem leading into the plant - it's your pole drop...

Re: What pole to use

Flex numbers on these poles would be helpful. However, it is difficult to compare poles/flex #'s across brands/makes of poles. First a little info on weight ratings. The weight rating is based on a test of the flex of the pole over a given span. A range of flex #'s is used for each weight rating. We...
