Re: tool for developing core and invert muscle control

hello kirk you bring up some questions I didn't think to answer. I have made a 14' tall framework that I hang rings and or a swinging high bar from for swing drills. So I us this tool just to teach core muscle control, to give the vaulters a sense of being upside down and to develop the muscle memor...

tool for developing core and invert muscle control

I use this piece of equipment to help my vaulter develop there core control and to get a feel for which muscles are being used in the invert and how to use them. just thought I would send out these photos, so that if there are other coaches out there that are looking for Ideas or tools to help teach...

Re: Pole Vault Words - Instructional and Inspirational

I remind the kid I coach that it's not how you handle the success's, but the failures that make use who we are. because we all will miss a height sooner or later. the object is to keep learning and try again.

Re: Physics Based Critique of the Petrov Method

kirk you are absolutely right in regard to the loss of energy if you are not stretched tall at takeoff, I am a coach of high schools vaulter both girls and boys and I still jump, in part because it is just fun, but also to show them that while I am older, slower, and probably with less vertical jump...

Re: What is your correct takeoff point?

I think I will weight in on this one. while my opinion is not based on science, it is based on observation as a coach. I am a believer in both a free take off and a per jump, for these reasons. first if you are causing the pole to bend by your action then you are under even if it is ever so slight a...

Re: Charlies Challenge

I read all of this and it drives me nuts. just because we don't have any vaulter going above Sergei record does not mean that they are not great vaulters or that they don't have great coaches. It just goes to show how unique and great of an athlete Sergei was. It is true that records are meant to be...

Re: running schedule

I have them do 11 left or right step runs depending on if you are left or fight handed, building up speed to max at 7 or 8 steps and ...

Re: Use of raised runway for outdoor track (SC)

That's not true that it will mess up your vaulters, you just must remind your vaulters that their starting points may be different because of the possible fast runway. There are alot of vaulters that train on them, including the pro's.

Re: 16' PR any advice welcome

What I see in your jump is that you are under for my taste, which causes your take off to be up and through or even a little below your lower hand. I am an advacate of a free take off. If you moved your take off point so that you where able to jump through your upper and lower hand, the (window as w...
