Re: What is your correct takeoff point?

I think I will weight in on this one. while my opinion is not based on science, it is based on observation as a coach. I am a believer in both a free take off and a per jump, for these reasons. first if you are causing the pole to bend by your action then you are under even if it is ever so slight a...

Re: Charlies Challenge

I read all of this and it drives me nuts. just because we don't have any vaulter going above Sergei record does not mean that they are not great vaulters or that they don't have great coaches. It just goes to show how unique and great of an athlete Sergei was. It is true that records are meant to be...

Re: Use of raised runway for outdoor track (SC)

That's not true that it will mess up your vaulters, you just must remind your vaulters that their starting points may be different because of the possible fast runway. There are alot of vaulters that train on them, including the pro's.

Re: 16' PR any advice welcome

What I see in your jump is that you are under for my taste, which causes your take off to be up and through or even a little below your lower hand. I am an advacate of a free take off. If you moved your take off point so that you where able to jump through your upper and lower hand, the (window as w...

Re: Blisters

use a racquetball glove. they grip well and will allow your hand to heal. I use them every once in awhile. but remember, you can not use them in competition if you are in high school.

Re: Question of too much bend???

As DJ said, you look to be under on your run, the pole is starting to bend before you finish your run, so you are bending your pole long before you can jump. a free jump would help your vaulting and lessen the bend in the pole at the height you are at. Practice your steps on the track until you get ...

Re: higher opening heights?

I am sorry that you have to wait so long, but remember back when you started. Unless you were born jumping over 9' you would have been one of the one's you are wining about. It's not just about you.
