My first two over 14' were the best jumps I've taken of my short career. As for being off track, I'm on track just moving slow. As for Mike, he's the most focused vaulter I've seen this year.

Almost all the athletes from a school in our area used them at the last big meet we had. As far as I know it works just fine, I'll have to try it out.

It was the best meet I've attended, such a great setup in a great town.

Plan on getting any other elites like last year?

The 400m and the pole vault actually tied together. He had a 23094809 step run going straight from the 400m into the pole vault (he ran the 400 holding the pole, hence the 52 second time). Talk about energy conservation!

If I'm reading it correctly, 6 step highest stiff pole grip = the takeoff mark for a full run vault. My highest grip was 12'6 meaning I can takeoff potentially from 12'6 on a 14-16 step run.? That's about right, however the farthest I've taken off from was 12'1.

If you could only do three lifts to become a better athlete, not pole vaulting specific, I'd say it's the clean, bench, and squat (without a box- compresses your back when you hit it). Those in combination with a good plyometric workout will put you in the best place to improve power/speed/strength....

I remember that. You guys came to the camp randomly, and it happened to be the same day we dug out that catapole and chopped the top off. I think I was doing pole runs with a sixteen foot pole and moved back to nine lefts while only wearing my spandex shorts. Man I was hot, errr it was hot outside. ...

I try to get in a full day midweek if I can, but I offen find myself showing up to meets with only a short run day, some running, pole runs, and other drill work.
