Re: Should I Stay Or Should I Go?
I have sat down with him a few weeks ago and i addressed him about my goals for the season and how i thought i could reach them, with different training methods, pole choice, etc. And for a week or so he went along with it, and i was improving, jumping on bigger poles than i ever had and things were...

Re: Should I Stay Or Should I Go?
I have heard this from other vaulters and coaches too, about the trials and tribulations of freshman year. However, my coach isn't really helping me at all. But, other coaches that speak with me at meets have been able to shead light on things that my coach doesn't see. I don't know if my coach isn'...

Should I Stay Or Should I Go?
Ok, so I'm currently a college freshman vaulting at a small private D1 College. I'm on a small athletic scholarship for vaulting too... I know it sounds great. However, my coach is not really that good of a coach. He hasn't really helped me since I've started vaulting here. But, after a four very fr...

Re: Need help changing poles
I'm defintely going to work on keeping my hips in motion from takeoff to swing, and change poles right after a good jump on the 14 7, then keep my grip the same. I hope its not a psychological thing, because i've never had trouble jumping on new poles before. Thanks for all the help. The standards a...

Re: Need help changing poles
Thanks alot Kirk. i dont know if its a psycological thing or not, because i have successfully jumped on a 15 145, but its too soft. I agree with what you were saying about keeping my hips in continuous motion, but my coach keeps preaching to me "drive phase, drive phase." and i know that i...

Need help changing poles
I'm currently a college freshman, and i can jump consistently on 14 7s. But, i am having ALOT of difficulty moving to 15s. I jump on a 14' 7" 160, and i weigh 140. I've cleared 16 3 on it at practice before, but it is now becoming too soft for me. Therefore, i've got to move to a 15 150 and 155...

Re: Carbon Poles Vs. Fiberglass Poles
I have also heard that the carbon fx is effected by weather (temperatures) more than a UCS Spirit. Personally I would agree that carbons are stiffer than fiberglass poles but have a larger return at the top end. But i guess its what you put into it.

Short elite vaulters
I know that the height of the vaulter affects the take-off angle and the vaulters ability to jump on longer poles. But, I was wondering if anyone knows of any elite vaulters who were on the short side. Roughly 17+ bars, with a height of 5' 9" and under. I know its an odd question but i happen t...
