The most important part is the ability to put it all together. Think of the vault as one continuous action. The greatest vaulters of all time were guys that didn't just do one phase well. They did the entire vault well.

Burgess or Hooker...tough choice. Both are very talented. I truly do think Paul Burgess has a very real shot at the world record if he can jump up better at the takeoff. That is the only thing keeping him off of bigger poles. He is the only person I have ever seen besides Bubka that can do what he d...

does anyone remember if he had good radial clearance--like did his entire body get that high or did he just get the hipheight? Judging by the position he's in, I'd say just the hip height reached the level shown. At a guess, I'd say his true radial clearance was about 15cm lower than hips are in th...

Damn, that is a pretty big pole...

I'd love to see that video in real time. Any word on whether or not the footage will wind up here on PVP or on Neovault?

Well Pyrek is aways getting better. However, in fairness, I think that the fact that Yelena is learning a new technique is limitiing her ability to adapt to different conditions. Once she gets more comfortable with the technical model that she and Petrov are working on, she'll probably be able to ad...

I have 14 on my list. Maybe 2 of those were indoors only? Ecker and Galfione vaulted 6m indoors only. For what it's worth, Galfione also has a beach vault of 6m that's mysteriously absent from the list. Oh. Yeah, that is interesting, isn't it? Sometimes, they're funny about ratyfying these jumps.

I have 14 on my list. Maybe 2 of those were indoors only? Ecker and Galfione vaulted 6m indoors only. Walker is 7th if you rank vaulters according to how young they were when they first vaulted 6m (down to the month). _______________________________ | | Age when | | Athlete | Cleared 6m | |________...

Hmmm...

Does anybody else find this strangely familiar? Aging vaulter... One of the best of all time... Dry spell... Right achilles tendon tear... Surgery... World championships the next year... Can anyone say Bubka? I just kind of found the story strangely parallel. I mean, there are some differences. Bubk...
