So I'm bending the pole now...
Hey everyone, Over the last few days, I've been jumping pretty well and have been getting my left arm placed correctly. The problem is, I seem to only be doing this part and not really "jumping jumping". I have taken a few good attempts at some bungies but the thing is, I can't really seem...

Re: Press drill?
The run is pretty much under control. I just need to be more agressive at take off and get my bottom arm correctly placed instead of having it collapse in. In practice I've had it partly extended, like the 60 degree angle I was talking about, but now I want to get it to 110.

Re: Press drill?
I'm not trying to bend the pole necessarily. What he means by that and by the "run someone over" quote is that you need to be as agressive as possible at take off. I don't think anyone would disagree with that.

Re: Press drill?
My coach told me that my arm should be at a 110 degree angle. Recently when I would vault, I'd try to get it at 60 degree angle (My elbow would form the angle). Does that sound right?

Press drill?
What are some benefits of the bottom arm press drill in which you stick your left arm out and "attack" the box? If i were to vault with a big pole the same way I have it with a smaller pole in this drill, will my vaulting improve? Or is it just preparing me for a small aspect and actually ...

Re: Approach Run/Hand above my head
You must strike slightly in front of your COM. Video focused just on your run (with and without the pole) would be greatly helpful... But your chest must be high, your hips must be high, and your knees must be high! Running drills, running drills, running drills. I call it sitting in a bucket...

Re: Approach Run/Hand above my head
I just made a recent "discovery" I guess you could say. My run is pretty terrible because I bend over forward, but the problem is I can't run fast when I have my chest up. Would it solve the problem if I simply punched my hips forward so that my body forms a straight line and this way I ca...

Re: That darn Huffman Roll....
For the record, my PR is 10. And I tried to do the jagodins today in the sand but the metal cover over the sand was frozen on and loaded with ice and snow so it would have been impossible to lift. Also, the weather was too cold to grip the pole. Furthermore, I understand what Kirk meant. I wasn't go...

Re: That darn Huffman Roll....
... I was thinking maybe using the high jump standards and a bungee so I'd have something low to practice swinging over. ... AJ, I also think you're wasting your time by not pushing your standards to 80 and dropping your grip ... IMMEDIATELY. I've already told you this ... so if you really think &q...

Re: That darn Huffman Roll....
I'd love to, but we don't practice vaulting in the winter. There is no place to do so. I intend on going down to the track tomorrow to do some jagodins. I was thinking maybe using the high jump standards and a bungee so I'd have something low to practice swinging over. It's gonna be freezing though

Re: That darn Huffman Roll....
Hey guys, So I had my first meet today and when I was talking to my coach, he suggested the same thing you guys have been saying. Once spring starts, standards will be pushed back to 80. The reason for this in his mind and the one thing he keeps stressing is that I am not holding take off long enoug...

Re: That darn Huffman Roll....
Kirk, Thank you. I will definitely try to do this during practice during the spring when I have practice more consistently. The reason I'm pressing so much, and perhaps I should have explained this earlier, is I have meets on January 9th, 13th, 16th, 23rd, 25th, possibly 27th, and possibly February ...
