Re: Getting on longer poles/moving grip up

Hey guys, I think we're getting away from the topic at hand here. I think the Advanced Technique Forum is already full of topics comparing (i.e. arguing about) technical models. I recall reading the Bryde Bend topic several years ago (2009?) and Kirk definitely advocates a whipping the trail leg bac...

Strength Metrics

For the frequent lifters among you I was wondering if you had any particular metrics you aimed for on big lifts (squat, clean, snatch, deadlift) when training your vaulters. I have an athlete who is 190 lbs and cna do the following: Squat: 385 Clean: 265 Snatch: 190 Deadlift: 505 How would you rate ...

Re: WC 2015 - Beijing

I'm surprised to see you say that Kirk, but I really admire your open mindedness about new technique  I don't know how I feel about double leg swings, but I think it sets a good example to be willing to continually learn and try and find the best technique rather than just try to be right all t...

Re: WC 2015 - Beijing

Kirk, let me first preface this by saying that I am definitely a fan and believer of Shawn, and I expect to see him clear 6m soon. However, I must disagree, not with your math, but with your premise. I am admittedly entering the realm of speculation here, but I would imagine that Shawn technique and...

Re: Placement vs. Pressure

do you trust objective visual analysis ( what scientists call empirical evidence ) I have two problems with this: 1) If we only trusted what we could see, we would definitely be in the scientific dark ages. Most modern science is centered around testing hypothesis for things we can't directly obser...

Re: Yes, another getting inverted post!

I would refer the original poster to some of the 6.40 model materials found on this board. That has been my preferred model for vaulting and coaching the vault for the past 4 years and I have seen success especially in the swing. I'll leave it to you to read some of the posts and figure out for your...

Yes I am speaking of an integral. I don't know how I didn't realize that. Thank you for interpreting my gibberish.

Re: D-1 Outdoor best PV height histogram, by sex

Cool graph, and nice work! Do you think it would work better as a summed graph? I think it's a little weird where the graph dips down around 17' or so and then spikes up again. Clearly anyone who has jumped 17'6 has the capability to jump 17', and so I think that if a data point counted for its own ...

Re: D'Encausse on ideal technique

Ok, I have to chime in here because I'm worried this conversation is going to keep going around in circles, which, while entertaining for a time, is not productive. A few points: 1) There is so much confirmation bias within the Advanced Technique forum that little will be gained by trying to classif...
