contact David Butler @ Rice University. He has a great video for beginning vaulters. It focuses on learning to steel vault first and then transferring those techniques to fiberglass vaulting. It also has alot of Bubka's vaults on there.

if you are using Dave Johnston's mid chart then the mid mark is not based on approach length, but on grip. So if the vaulter is gripping in the same place (I'm assuming a 13'5' grip for that mid mark) then the mid will still be 45' whether it's a 12step or 14 step approach.

I used pilates in training and it has helped me alot. The combination of stretching and strengthing you get from doing pilates you can't get from weights or stretching alone. I find it keeps away the nagging injuries and stregthens the smaller muscles in your body. Good stuff, I recommend trying it ...
