All I can say is thank the Lord for Rory Quiller and Mitch Greely. If not for them there would be no real reason to have an East Regional. 5.51 and 5.41 represents always.

Thanks Tim! I used to tap because I saw the advantages. Helping an athlete get on a bigger pole being the biggest one. I stopped tapping because I spoke to an expert (Altius) who convinced me that it was not a healthy way to coach. The most convincing point was that we(USA) were doing things that we...

Deep Boxes, Down Hill Runways, Taps: What's the difference? What is an experienced vaulter? I knew Kevin Dare personally and I knew that he was going about getting on bigger poles the wrong way. Is 5.10 at 19 or 20 years old not an experienced enough vaulter to be tapped? I think that there is more ...

I am not going to argue whether tapping is good or not. My point was that there is tapping in Europe and not only in the US. I was told different and those photos confirmed that the information I received was incorrect.

I had a few discussions with Alan about this. I respect his opinions but I could not believe it when he said that we were the only country to tap, thus the reasons for our high injury rates as compaired to other countries. Now this could have been an isolated case but Andrej has clarified. I have de...

Looks like Monica gets a spot from her coach during practice. Looks like we need to get Alan Launder on this right away. I thought that Europeans didn't spot/tap?
Check out her Red Bull photos.

Yeah, I was able to get a 17.- 5.00 from a friend so I will probably have him use that first. I just have to drive 3 hours each way to get it:( Didn't have the weather to get on the 5.00-16.6 yesterday. Thanks for the confidence booster. My athlete has only jumped 4.95 but is 6'7" tall and abou...

Thanks for the input. I was able to acquire a 4.90-16.6 today. This will definitely close the gap and should make the transition to the 5.00-16.6 much smoother.

Question: 4.90 to 5.00 transition?

I have an athlete who is blowing through a 4.90- 17.0. Our next pole option is a 5.00- 16.6. If he were to match his grip would there be a major difference in stiffness? He is gripping down one fist on the 4.90. Feedback from people who have actually made this transition and used these poles would b...

Does he always carry the pole that far off his hip with his top hand?
