I would go from short runs on straight poles and slowly move your grip up.

I'm not sure the rule for AAU meets, but in high school youre not allowed to hold higher than the weight sticker. Just remember, though, its pole vaulting not pole bending. The focus shouldn't be on bending the pole.

If your takeoff is under, your swing is going to suffer. Work that takeoff to get it to a free takeoff, your swing will come together and you will be working towards the inversion phase. That's going to help you.

Use the search feature here...it's a great tool and theres hundreds of topics on flex numbers. But basically, it's how companies base the flexibility of their poles. The higher the number, the softer the pole. For example a 14' 160 might be anywhere from a 19.0-19.9, but a 14' with a 18.9 is no long...

What pole are you on now? A jump up to a 15' pole isn't easy. It's been said here before but theres sailpiece issues here. Rollin over those isn't easy.

Chances are that you're on too big of a pole so I would work on that, but you might not be jumping up also. If you just run into the pole you have nothing to carry you up so what do you do...you get pushed backwards. Just a thought but for sure try a smaller pole.
